Honda CR-V Cruise Control

I’m just not a cruising type of girl.

To me it smacks of being out of control and has the potential to be highly dangerous. I still have in the back of my mind my father telling me the tale of someone’s cruise control getting stuck with disastrous consequences. Where he’d heard such nonsense I’ve no idea, but it still spooked me to the point where I’ve gone for 30 years of driving never having operated this button.

Very recently, I stepped out of my comfort zone and pressed it. I actually felt I had very little choice in the matter. I’d been given strict instructions and a practical demonstration – while the car was stationary, so not that practical – by tech man Paul. I was preparing for my journey north with three kids and two cats in tow – alone again as John, true to form, was playing the absent father.

Mondeo’s don’t have a good image in my mind. I can only think of hire cars, salesmen and middle-aged, overweight, smoking, businessmen who look generally disappointed with life. And also an old boyfriend who I would have done anything for until he revealed his lack of driving abilities – in a Mondeo. I never saw him in the same way again!

While of course it’s common sense to get into the right position before setting off for any journey in your car, I do wonder how many of us give it the amount of attention that it deserves?

Proton’s city nipper

I had confirmation of just how nippy this car was after being stopped by the police.

What an experience and one I feel able to share only because I think he stopped me out of sheer admiration for said nippiness rather than me being a danger on the road. I least that’s what I like to think…

Diamonds might be a girl’s best friend, but I’d settle for a Porsche any day!

I try not to allow myself to get excited by unobtainable things – it just leads to heartache and yearning. So it is with Porsches, along with the feeling of why spend so much money on a car…?
