A Mini Birthday Party
Jan 25th
I had a very draining experience down on Brighton’s seafront at a Mini gathering.
Why I allowed my family to be battered all day by wind and rain I’m not sure, but it was sold to me as a great day out. And I suppose it was, helped tremendously by bacon butties, copious amounts of coffee and biscuits, burgers and chips, all topped off with a stick of rock. Felt disgusting by the end of this feast and then had to contend with very active kids on the way home. More >
Reality check: Peugeot 308CC
Jan 25th
I hate to think I would begrudge my friends their good fortune, but just sometimes I find it gets the better of me.
I always try and console myself that happiness is more important than material things but a) I don’t feel particularly filled with the joys of spring (although things have perked up a bit since the weather’s improved) and b) yes, I’d rather be driving my friend’s new convertible BMW than sitting behind the wheel of my very untrendy, uncool people carrier. BMW X1 sDrive 20d SE (6 speed) £24,205
I’m still undecided about the looks of this car. Are they just bold, or is it a disaster? A bit of this and a bit of that all stuck together. If so, then I know how it feels – and that’s on a good day…

The Look
I’ve been told (by Paul mainly) that this is a beautiful car because of its proportions, beautiful lines and flowing curves. I can’t see it myself. It does look smart and the look has grown on me especially since I enjoyed driving it so much, but when I first saw one of these cars I thought they were just plain ugly.
Renault Clio 1.5 DCi

The Look
The previous Clio was very stylish and unusual with its very distinctive rear window “bustle” and I feel that this look has actually been improved upon with this new model, still being cheeky with a lovely distinct bump to the rear.
